The nominees have been announced for our Best Casual Game of 2020 award! This award recognizes the most innovative, fun, and uniquely entertaining casual game published during the previous calendar year.
Previous winners include Sagrada by Floodgate Games, Welcome To... by Deep Water Games, and Point Salad by AEG. This year, we have another tough race between three great games. So, let your voice be heard! Vote on your favorite below to influence the final award decision.
Best Casual Game of 2020 Nominees
A panel of 11 judges, consisting of popular media personalities in the game industry, has come together to nominate recipients for this award (the judges' names will be announced when the award is finalized). Nominations were considered based on gameplay, aesthetics, and originality. Each nomination was required to meet the following criteria:
- Base game (not an expansion)
- Released in the USA during the 2020 calendar year
- Must be widely considered as a casual game
- In no way affiliated with the person nominating
After tallying the nominations, the top three games have been selected and voting is now underway! Here are the nominees, in alphabetical order.
Back to the Future: Back in Time (Funko Games) — In this cooperative game, each player takes on the role of a major character from the movie, collecting items and meeting objectives in order to go back to the future.
Calico (Flatout Games, AEG) — Players compete to sew the coziest quilt as they collect and place patches of different colors and patterns, aiming for aesthetics as well as a quilt that will attact cuddly cats.
My City (KOSMOS) — This is a legacy-style game in which you develop a city on your own playing board through the ages, with a customized experience over 24 episodes.
