Point Salad by AEG Named the Best Casual Game of 2019
The votes have been tallied and a winner has been announced for our third annual Best Casual Game of the Year award: Point Salad by AEG! Congratulations to the publisher and the designers (Molly Johnson, Robert Melvin, and Shawn Stankewich) for a job well done.
After our panel of judges narrowed down the list of candidates to just three nominees, a vote was taken by our judges as well as our readers to determine a winner. The results couldn't have been much closer — despite Parks barely eeking out a win in the public vote, Point Salad claimed the victory with the most votes from the judges. The results of the vote are below:
A special review of Point Salad will be featured in the Spring 2020 issue of Casual Game Insider (released April 2020). We would like to recognize and congratulate the runners up, Parks and Tiny Towns. Other honorable mentions include Letter Jam, Slide Quest, Horrified, Obscurio, Draftosaurus, and Push. These are all great casual games that received multiple nominations from our judges and deserve your attention.
We would also like to offer a special thanks to our judges who took part in the nomination and voting process!
I don't think you could have gone wrong no matter which game won. I just picked up Point Salad last week and have really enjoyed it. It is so easy to teach and each game does not take long at all. Congrats to AEG and the design team!
Well, I love PARKS and Tiny Towns, but the name/theme of Point Salad always seemed silly to me so I steered clear of it. Guess I'll give it a look after all now.
